Yahoo News Briton, 33, drowns while swimming in Austrian lake after getting cramp in his foot
A 33-year-old British man has drowned in a lake in Austria after suffering a cramp in his foot, police have said.
Officers from the state police said the man was in the water at the Schwarzindien beach area in Mondsee, less than 20 miles east of Salzburg, on Wednesday when the incident took place.
Police said the man was with a 36-year-old woman, also from England, when he complained of the pain and went below the surface.
Police added: "When he did not come back to the surface of the water, she screamed for help.”
Other bathers tried to help but the man's body was recovered at around 4.30pm local time, officers said.

Cramp, an involuntary muscle contraction that can come on suddenly and be extremely painful, is associated with exercise and dehydration.
Pains can last as long as 10 minutes in some cases and can make it difficult to move.
The NHS website advises stretching and massaging the muscle if the cramp does not go away on its own.
