Brits in Turkey given urgent warning over extreme heat and told they 'may need to leave their hotel'
British tourists planning to soak up the sun in Turkey's Antalya are being alerted to a sizzling forecast, with temperatures set to soar as high as 37C.
The beloved holiday spot, a magnet for UK sun-seekers each year, has prompted caution from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) regarding the intense summer heat. "Extreme temperatures can affect many areas of Turkey over the summer months," the FCO cautioned in a recent advisory.
Brits abroad are advised to stay hydrated, limit their sun exposure, and adhere to NHS guidelines on managing in sweltering conditions. Beyond the risks of heatstroke and dehydration, there's an escalated threat of wildfires due to the high temperatures, as reported by the Express.

This year, Turkey has already battled 74 wildfires, with around 12,910 hectares (31,900 acres) of terrain scorched, data from the European Forest Fire Information System (EFFIS) shows.
A recent wildfire in southeastern Turkey resulted in 11 deaths and numerous injuries, prompting the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) to issue a warning to tourists. The FCO stated: "Wildfires happen frequently in Turkey during summer," reports the Mirror.
For the most up-to-date information, holidaymakers are advised to consult local news outlets and authorities.
"You could get a fine or prison sentence for lighting a fire of any kind or discarding cigarettes in risk areas such as woodland. Barbecues are prohibited in these areas," the FCO added.
"If there is a wildfire in your area, local authorities may tell you to leave your accommodation. Follow the directions of local authorities. If you see a wildfire, call emergency services on 112."
Due to the unpredictable nature of wildfires, it is crucial for visitors to have comprehensive travel insurance that covers natural disasters. This can provide assistance if your holiday is cut short or travel plans change, as well as protect against lost or damaged luggage and belongings.
