The BRIT Awards are being accused of hypocrisy after censoring Skepta's expletive-laden live performance.

The Mercury Prize-winning grime superstar's epic version of 'Shutdown' was frequently muted during Wednesday's award show, which in itself isn't necessarily surprising.

However, fans are up in arms because BRITs presenter Dermot O'Leary wasn't censored at all when he encouraged fans to "go batshit" while introducing Skepta. Jonathan Ross wasn't muted either when saying 'piss' at another point in the show.

Check out some of the angrier tweets below - but be warned that they're about as NSFW as humanly possible:

This was only one of the night's controversial moments - The 1975 also tricked some viewers into believing that the BRIT Awards broadcast had actually been hacked.

Lead singer Matt Healy and the boys' jangly version of 'The Sound' was intercut with very brief messages flashing insults like 'annoying', 'contrived' and 'knock offs' - but it was all just a clever reference to their video for 'The Sound'.

There were actual live TV disasters too - like one of Katy Perry's dancers accidentally falling off the stage during her performance 'Chained to the Rhythm' with Skip Marley.

Later, BRITs Icon Award Robbie Williams was deluged with accidental nudity, falling dancers and huge sound problems when he performed a show-closing medley.

Dermot O'Leary and Emma Willis thankfully were able to present the rest of 2017's BRIT Awards from London's O2 arena without incident. Phew!
