Some Brits vow to 'never return' to Spain and Italy over 'Big Brother' tourist rules
UK holidaymakers are swiftly scrapping plans for Spanish and Italian escapes as both nations introduce tougher tourism controls. The new rules, including tourist levies in destinations like Venice and Barcelona, have sparked fury among Brits.
Spain's demanding new requirements compel British tourists to submit detailed information to hotels, a policy some have branded "Big Brother" style surveillance. One irate traveller suggested: "It is a rather simple solution. Boycott holidays to Spain. They don't want the revenue that comes from the UK holidaymakers."
Another pledged: "I will never go to Spain again," and a third cautioned: "They need to be careful what they wish for."

A Mallorca local added their perspective: "I live in Mallorca and honestly, it's never been busier, but the trend is towards the very big spenders. A very small minority are calling for tourism to be capped, and holiday lets are making housing unaffordable,", reports Yorkshire Live.
Elsewhere, someone pointed out the regional government's approach: "The aim of the regional government is to attempt to cap numbers, and attract bigger spenders, which appears to be working."
Wrapping up the general mood, one commenter stated: "Not a hard choice is it? Spend thousands to go where you are not welcome or choose a more friendly destination? " Another person was forthright in their view: "Boycott it as a holiday destination, they will soon be begging us back."
One holidaymaker shared their personal experience, stating: "I've never been and never will go to Spain! I've unfortunately met quite a few Spanish in my time, and like Al roca, they are not very nice, so quite frankly, it put me off! "
This sparked a fiery response from another tourist who retorted: "If it weren't for Britain Spain would collapse! " They further warned: "Carry on as you are Spain, and you will see a real dent in your tourism industry. Be careful what you wish for! "
Another commentator noted: "Spain doesn't want Britons there anyway. They've been making that clear for a while now". Yet another opinionated traveller advised against swapping Spain for Italy, saying: "Don't swap Spain for Italy either, it's too cultured for your average yawnball supporting lager lout and accompanying overweight family."
