Remember '90s leisure centre sitcom The Brittas Empire? Well, according to its star Chris Barrie, it could return one day.

The legendary actor is perhaps best known for his role as Rimmer in Red Dwarf, which returns for a twelfth series next month.

However, many viewers will also know Barrie as Gordon Brittas, the manger of a failing Leisure Centre in the comedy ensemble show The Brittas Empire.

The series ran from 1991 to 1997 and arguably inspired Ricky Gervais' The Office in the early noughties, which went on to have huge success – so it's only natural The Brittas Empire may be in for a reboot.

And Barrie has backed those rumours, suggesting a cast reunion next month could spark a revival of the much-loved comedy show.

"There's a lot of momentum for this among the fans who mainly come and see me for Red Dwarf,' he told Metro.

"We're having a reunion on October 2 which is part of relaunching the Ringwood Recreation Centre where we filmed it, and a lot of the cast are coming down, the original writers are coming down, and I think we might use that as a bit of a platform to try and do something.

"They did nearly do it in 2015, but I think there's so much momentum for it. Now's the time."

We're rooting for you, Gordon.
