The Broadchurch finale is looming, and we're about to find out who Trish's attacker is.

But one of the stars of the show has dropped another hint about the identity of the attacker – and if he's saying what we think he's saying, it could turn out to be a very big clue.

"It's worth bearing in mind the combination of the three series of focus on that community, so expect the unexpected," Joe Sims (who plays Nigel Carter) told the Daily Express.

"When you're looking at who may have perpetrated any act, any horrible act, or any acts of goodness, it is far better to look at it from a perspective of someone who has watched all three series rather than who has come later."

Interesting.

Mark Bazeley – who plays Jim Atwood – has recently suggested that there could well be more than one attacker and that the actor (or actors) playing the attacker (or attackers) likely knew they did it before reading the script for the finale.

"I think the person or persons who have done the deed are forewarned, simply because of the nature of the show," he said during an appearance on This Morning.

Broadchurch finishes next Monday (April 17) at 9pm on ITV.
