Brody Stevens death: Stand-up comedian who appeared in The Hangover found dead, aged 48

Prominent US comedian Brody Stevens has been found dead at his home in Los Angeles in an apparent suicide. He was 48.

Stevens, who was a popular regular at several LA comedy clubs, was known for putting a positive outlook into his sets. He enjoyed bit parts in several films, including as a corrupt police officer in The Hangover.

“Brody was an inspiring voice who was a friend to many in the comedy community,” his representatives said in a statement.

“He pushed creative boundaries and his passion for his work and his love of baseball were contagious. He was beloved by many and will be greatly missed. We respectfully ask for privacy at this time.”

In 2013, he was featured in his own Comedy Central series special called Brody Stevens: Enjoy It! and was frequently a warmup act on comedy TV shows such as Why? With Hannibal Buress, Chelsea Lately and The Best Damn Sports Show Period.

After hearing of his passing, comedian Patton Oswalt said, “If you are depressed or feeling suicidal please please please please please reach out to ANYONE. I never get to see Brody Stevens again I can’t stand this.”

Bob Saget tweeted: “Such a funny man. Such a good man. We need you and your comedy.”

“RIP Brody Stevens. Nobody else was like him, on or off stage,” said comedian Kumail Nanjiani. “Whenever I saw him, I’d end up talking like him for three days. It’s sadder and sadder.”
