Broken drain destroys portion of Houston County road

HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala (WDHN)- A large part of Hodgesville Road, between Cherry Hooper and Flourney Moore Road, is closed after a flooded creek caused the road to collapse.

The collapse occurred after Double Bridge Creek, which runs under the 5800 block of Hodgesville Road, flooded and broke a cross drain.

According to Houston County EMA Director Mark Powell, after the drain broke, it tilted upwards, causing a portion of the roadway to crack and collapse.
