Brooke Shields is heading back to TV with a role in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the former model and actress has joined the 19th season of Law and Order: SVU in a major recurring role.
"I play a very different character from any I have ever played," Shields said. "I'm excited to stir the SVU pot a bit."
For now, details on her role are being kept very much under wraps. However, it's thought that the character will be ready to shake things up for Benson (played by Mariska Hargitay).
Shields is, of course, not the first major celebrity to join the cast of SVU.
The NBC based drama has previously welcomed Sharon Stone, Whoopi Goldberg, Alec Baldwin and even the late Robin Williams into the fold.
Indeed, Shields will not be the only new recruit this season. Philip Winchester has also joined the series, reprising his Chicago Justice character Peter Stone (in what appears to be a NBC universe of its very own.)
Shields is best known for being one of the world's most famous supermodels, but she's also got quite a bit of TV work in her repertoire.
She most recently guest-starred on the second season of Ryan Murphy's Scream Queens and has also had take on roles in a number of other TV series, such as Lipstick Jungle, The Middle, Army Wives and Nip/Tuck.
Of course, there was also that one time she appeared in Friends as Joey's date/stalker Erica Ford.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit returns September 27 to NBC in the US.
