Brooklinn Khoury Marks 3 Years Since Her 'Life Changed Instantly' from Dog Attack: 'This Day Is Hard for Me'
"The last 3 years have been full of every emotion you could possibly think of," said Brooklinn Khoury, who lost her top lip and part of her nose after she was attacked by a pit bull in November 2020
Brooklinn Khoury is reflecting on another year since her life-changing attack.
In 2020, the pro skateboarder was visiting her cousin in Gilbert, Arizona, when she was attacked by a pit bull, which caused her to lose her upper lip and part of her nose. She has since documented her numerous reconstructive surgeries on social media.
On Friday, the 24-year-old posted a video on Instagram celebrating how far she’s come despite the memory of that day being “hard” to deal with. In the clip, Khoury shares moments from every step of her recovery journey.
“On November 3rd of 2020 my life changed instantly,” Khoury captioned the post. “I was attacked by a dog that took off my whole upper lip and parts of my nose. The last 3 years have been full of every emotion you could possibly think of. Happiness, growth, continuing to adjusts to a society that isn’t used to facial differences, and learning to love myself from the inside and out.”
“This day is hard for me, but I’ve also learned to love it and be thankful for everything it’s taught me,” she continued. “Remember to Go hug someone you love today. Happy smile day.”

After three years of recovering, Khoury is now preparing to get her lip tattooed. Last month, she posted an Instagram video documenting her visit to Studio Sashiko, a Los Angeles tattoo shop, for a consultation following her final reconstructive surgery earlier this year.
In the clip, the 24-year-old went to the consultation and tested possible colors for the lip tattoo in order for her reconstructed top lip to match her bottom lip. She was joined by her surgeon, Dr. Nicholas Do, and girlfriend, Chloé Lukasiak.
Khoury admitted she was “so nervous” but still excited for the final steps of her recovery journey.
“I had a tattoo consultation today, and I know it will bring this whole lip to life! I'm so blessed and excited for this next stage of the process,” she captioned the post. “I don’t know who needs to hear this but remember to take one day at a time, life throws crazy things at you that might seem impossible to get through, but I promise you can and you will. Life is crazy, but it’s beautiful.”

Back in March, Khoury posted another video celebrating having an official lining on her top lip after her seventh and final surgery.
She then tried on different color lipsticks in order to see what she’d look like.
"It's not bad, it looks weird on me. I haven't had any color here for two years, almost three. Let's go darker," she said trying on a blush hue and then a bold red lipstick color. "It's definitely gonna take some getting used to. But I am so happy that now I have a lip line."
In the caption of the post, she wrote, "Getting my lip tattooed will be one of the last steps. it's definitely going to take some getting used to, but I am so excited for it."
