Brooklyn Nine-Nine has teased its eagerly anticipated final outing with a new poster.

Ahead of its eighth season premiere, the police comedy took to social media to share the official artwork, which boasts a tagline Andy Samberg's Jake Peralta would be proud of. "One last time (Title of your sex tape)," it reads, as the show's eight core cast members pose dramatically in front of the Brooklyn Bridge.

Later, Andre Braugher (who plays Captain Raymond Holt), Stephanie Beatriz (Rosa Diaz), Joe Lo Truglio (Charles Boyle) and Melissa Fumero (Amy Santiago) - who all appear in the image - took to their respective accounts to do the same.

Late last year, NBC, having picked up the series after it was axed by Fox, hinted that season eight is set to focus on Jake and the squad as they "try to balance their personal lives and professional lives over the course of a very difficult year."

Around the same time, it emerged that the first four scripts of the 10-episode instalment had been scrapped. Samberg went on to say that the cast, writers and producers were taking some time out to reflect on how to appropriately centre cops in a comedy show in light of the tragic death of George Floyd, and the summer's subsequent demonstrations against police violence.

It seems worth noting that in the new poster, no characters are wearing their badges and Holt, who is very rarely seen on screen in anything other than his uniform, is in civilian clothes and holding his and his husband's beloved dog Cheddar.

That said, Hitchcock actor Dirk Blocker is holding an NYPD mug, so we know that some of it at least will still take place inside the precinct.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine returns to NBC on August 12, 2021.
