Brown's Mother: Cop 'Wanted To Kill Someone'

Michael Brown's mother has lashed out over Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson's claim that he has a "clean conscience" after shooting dead her son.

Lesley McSpadden and Michael Brown Jr's father, Michael Brown Sr, responded to Officer Wilson breaking his silence in an interview with CBS News.

"His conscious is clear?" Ms McSpadden said. "How can your conscious be clear after killing somebody even if it was an accidental death?"

In an interview with ABC News on Tuesday, Officer Wilson said there was nothing he could have done differently during his deadly encounter with the teenager on 9 August.

"I know I did my job right," he said.

Ms McSpadden said she does not believe a word Officer Wilson says, adding reports that her son stole cigars from a convenience store minutes before he was killed should not have led to the officer's actions.

"This didn't call for you to take my son's life," she said.

"If something happened in that store, and that's a big if, that could've been dealt with. But you didn't have to do what you did.

She said Officer Wilson "didn't do what he had to do, he did what he wanted to do".

Officer Wilson "wanted to kill someone", she added.

"My biggest question: Why?" Mr Brown said.

"Why did you choose to wake up with a chip on your shoulder and do what you did to our son?"

Officer Wilson testified that the teenager, who had been unarmed, looked like a "demon" during their altercation.

Ms McSpadden also told NBC that she felt the description of her son looking demonic was disrespectful and "added insult to injury".

After hearing 70 hours of evidence from about 60 witnesses, a grand jury decided there was "no probable cause that a crime had been committed" in the case.

The 12-member panel's decision sparked violent protests in Ferguson, which have continued into a second day .

Lawyers for the Brown family have called the grand jury process "unfair" and "broken". They have criticised St Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCulloch's handling of the case.

The Brown family called for Mr McCulloch to be barred from the case months ago, but were denied a request for a special prosecutor to be appointed.
