Bruno Guimaraes delivers honest verdict to Newcastle after Fulham mistake
Bruno Guimaraes has accepted responsibility for his role in Newcastle United's horror-show 3-1 defeat to Fulham on Saturday. The Brazilian struggled during the game, making a catastrophic error handing Reiss Nelson a final goal to clinch matters.
Having started the campaign well in terms of results, the manner of defeat at Craven Cottage has raised concerns. The Magpies were second best against Fulham but they didn't help themselves.
Marco Silva's men went ahead early on thanks to Raul Jimenez. Emile Smith Rowe doubled their lead before Harvey Barnes halved the deficit after half-time. However, the points were sealed when Guimaraes' risky ball went wrong and Reiss Nelson fired past Nick Pope.

Guimaraes was apologetic towards the travelling supporters in London at the full-time whistle. The Brazilian held up his hands in front of the away end before sending his own apology on social media.
Writing on Instagram, he wrote: "I'm man enough to own my mistakes! Tough day for all of us," he put on his story. "But I'll never hide! We need to improve as a team and individually, and I'm 100% included in that. Keep working for better days ahead."
Guimaraes' words will be encouraging for Newcastle ahead of a busy week. Eddie Howe's men take on AFC Wimbledon in the League Cup on Tuesday night before they welcome Manchester City in the Premier League next Saturday.
