Pushing Daisies was cancelled far too early in the show's run for our liking, but a little good news came our way this week when showrunner Bryan Fuller revealed that he's desperate to bring it back in some form.

He admitted that he thinks the series was a little ahead of its time and could've lasted much longer than two seasons if it'd premiered today rather than a decade ago in 2007.

"Now what we're celebrating in television is the identity of niche as a demographic that can be explored in different stories," he said.

"That would have been a more fertile soil for Pushing Daisies to grow in," the Star Trek: Discovery executive producer also told Vanity Fair.

"I still would love to do Pushing Daisies as a Broadway musical. I'd love to see it return as a mini-series for Netflix, Apple, or Amazon, or whoever would pick it up.

"I love these actors. I love Lee Pace like a brother. I love Anna Friel like a sister.

"Chi McBride is such a wonderful ball of light that can only be matched by Kristin Chenoweth's ball of light."

And talking of the multi-talented Kristin, it sounds like she's well up for bringing it back.

She wrote on Twitter after hearing Bryan's comments about potentially bringing the show back to TV: "Hello?! Right!? Let's go."

Bryan really has given the revival some thought and has even gone as far as to imagine who would be the best fit to write the musical.

"I can just imagine Tim Minchin's lyrics, can't you?" he added. "If you're reading this article, Tim, call me!"

What are you waiting for, Tim?
