Director Bryan Singer has no involvement in the new Twilight Zone reboot, despite previously being linked to the project.

The Bohemian Rhapsody director has been at the centre of sexual misconduct allegations in the past, with new accusations surfacing in recent months. He denies all claims.

The backlash appears to have already killed upcoming project Red Sonja, though past reports linking him with the Jordan Peele-led Twilight Zone reboot have raised questions about whether he's still involved.

However, producer Simon Kinberg has told Digital Spy and other press that he's not been linked to the project for a while.

"He was not involved," he said at PaleyFest. "Bryan and I started talking about doing a Twilight Zone [reboot] many, many years ago and then he stepped off to work on other projects and I stayed on.

"I had a meeting with Jordan Peele a couple of years ago and we just started talking about things that we loved and Twilight Zone was high on Jordan's list.

"We became partners on this and ever since we've been steering the ship with a lot of incredible partners. The biggest joy of this has been working with Jordan."

Speaking more about the new version, Kinberg explained that it would have a "timeless look and feel" and a "classic quality to it, so it would have some resemblance in a way to Rod [Serling]'s Twilight Zone".

He added that the reboot will be more diverse, continuing: "We're able to populate the show in a different way than Rod was able to, so if we do a show about racism or sexism, it's not a show that has a predominantly all-white male cast, and that's a big difference between our show and the original series."

Kinberg also promised "lot of little references" to the original show with "Easter eggs all over the place".

The Twilight Zone will premiere on CBS All Access on April 1.
