BT issues warning to 'broadband and mobile' customers over big change
BT has issued a warning to broadband and mobile customers over a big shake-up from April. BT will push through with price hikes for customers in the wake of Christmas, the telecoms company and provider has confirmed in a message to customers.
If you joined or renewed your contract on or after April 10, 2024, the price of your mobile bill will rise by £1.50 a month from March 31. TV customers will pay £2 a month more, and broadband customers will pay an extra £3 a month.
Out-of-bundle services will be subject to an annual 5% increase. For those who joined or renewed on or before April 9, 2024, your price will rise by 6.4%. There will be no increases for customers who are financially vulnerable, landline-only customers, pay-as-you-go households, or those on a BT Home Essentials, EE Mobile Basics, or BT Home Phone Saver package.

According to BT’s terms and conditions, it will be increasing its prices for most customers from 31 March 2025. If you're still on the same contract as you were in early 2024, this will likely be an inflation-based price increase of 6.4%. But if you signed up after 10 April 2024, you should be on a flat increase of £3 per month every year.
Each year, the provider combines the Consumer Price Index inflation rate announced in January with its own annual price increase of 3.9%. This has resulted in 2025's increase being 6.4%. But Ofcom has recently ruled that new broadband contracts must have a fixed price increase rate instead, so customers know in pounds and pence how much their price is going up by in advance.
BT's annual price increase affect the majority of its broadband customers, as the policy is now part of the provider's T&Cs. Uswithc warned: "Whether you're a new joiner to BT or a long-time customer, you will very likely be subject to either its inflation-based or fixed-rate price increase."
