BT and Sky strike a very sweet bundle deal

From Digital Spy

A huge fan of sport but resistant to buying two subscription packages? You're not alone – which is why Sky and BT have done us all a solid and (kind of) teamed up together.

BT announced the new multi-year agency move today (December 15), revealing that both Sky and BT customers will soon be able to purchase each other's services directly from their own provider.

The new deal means that BT will now be able to market and sell Sky's NOW TV service – including Sky Sports, Sky Cinema and Sky Atlantic packages – directly to their own customers.

On the other side, Sky will also soon be offering BT Sport channels, which Sky customers will be able to buy without having to switch loyalties.

So, if you've ever fancied a Game of Thrones marathon shortly before a Champions League match, now's your chance.

In a statement, BT's chief executive Gavin Patterson called the move "the next logical step" for the company as it moves forward to consolidate its content.

"Having built up an outstanding portfolio of exclusive sports rights and a loyal base of customers, we feel that now is the right time to broaden the ways in which we distribute BT Sport," he said.

"Adding NOW TV boosts our growing roster of outstanding content from the likes of Netflix, great pay channels like AMC and all the major catch-up services."

BT and Sky are expecting to roll out the exciting new deal early next year, so there's not long to wait until you never have to leave your sofa again.
