BTS have continued their path to global domination by sneakily appearing in an episode of The Simpsons.

The K-pop boyband may not have voiced a guest role on the animated sitcom but they were certainly there in spirit during the show's most recent episode 'E My Sports'.

The episode saw the Simpsons travel to South Korea for a gaming contest called The Conflict of Enemies Championship.

South Korea also happens to be the birthplace of BTS, so it's no surprise that while wondering the streets of Seoul, Lisa, Homer, Marge and Maggie walk past two signs referencing the boyband.

Written in Korean, the signs read: "BTS here today" and "BTS ARMY recruiting centre" – which was quickly picked up on by the band's loyal global fanbase.

BTS's not-quite-a-cameo-cameo comes after the announcement that the band will be making their Saturday Night Live debut next month.

They will serve as the musical guest for the April 13 episode hosted by Oscar-winning actress Emma Stone.

Before then, Killing Eve's Sandra Oh and Game of Thrones' Kit Harington will front the long-running sketch series, with musical guests Tame Impala and Sara Bareilles respectively.

The Simpsons airs on FOX in the US and on Sky One in the UK.
