Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Nicholas Brendon has been arrested in Palm Springs, California, after an alleged incident involving his girlfriend.

The actor, who played Xander Harris on the show, was arrested last Wednesday (October 11) after an alleged violent dispute.

According to The Desert Sun, the incident happened at the Saguaro Hotel, the actor reportedly pulling his girlfriend's arm and her hair after an argument.

The woman in question has active protective orders against Brendon in New York and Florida, the paper confirms, and he is allowed to be around her but not threaten, harass, injure or assault.

The actor was arrested for violating the protective order and for felony domestic violence.

Digital Spy has reached out to Brendon's representative for comment.

Brendon has a previous history with the law, having been arrested in Idaho in 2014 after witnesses called the police to report an incident between the actor and hotel employees.

Police said that he had broken a decorative dish and he was charged with "malicious injury to property". He was released on bond hours later.
