Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans, Angel may not have been dusted after all!

That's the word according to the formerly-fanged David Boreanaz, who played the brooding vampire in both Buffy and his spin-off series Angel back in the late '90s and early 2000s.

Boreanaz revealed on US chatshow The Talk on Tuesday (March 19) that the wheels are in motion for some sort of Angel reunion or revival in celebration of the spin-off's 20th anniversary.

"We’re coming up on our 20 years,” he told the hosts. “That’s amazing to have been blessed with a show like that. That’s really where I started my gig in this acting world.

"I love that character. So I will say there may be something coming up. I don’t want to give away a lot. It’s 20 years coming up this fall, and we may have something in the works.”

Boreanaz wouldn't clarify if it was an actual TV reunion series, but we wouldn't hold our breath. This is the same guy who said a few years ago that he'd "never" be a part of a Buffy revival show.

What is more likely is an Angel cast reunion photoshoot and interview, just like Boreanaz and the rest of the cast of Buffy the Vampire Slayer took part in for that show's 20th anniversary in 2017.

A spin-off of Buffy the Vampire Slayer is currently in the works from original creator Joss Whedon and Monica Owusu-Breen. It is expected to tell a new origin story of an African-American slayer.

Earlier this year, Sarah Michelle Gellar offered her support for the new Slayer series while also seeming reluctant to take part in any way.

"You know, I’ve told my story with it," the actress said. "For me, the beauty of the show was the madness and horrors of high school manifesting in actual literal horrors.

"And I may look young, thanks to all my Olay products, but I don’t look like I’m a kid."

Angel will celebrate its 20th anniversary this October.
