Yahoo News Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Sarah Michelle Gellar plans TV comeback
Sarah Michelle Gellar is planning a return to TV in a new dramedy described as a cross between Big Little Lies and Catastrophe.
The Buffy legend's new show is called Other People's Houses and comes from the co-creators of her drama series Ringer, which was cancelled after one season back in 2012.
Right now, Fox has ordered a script (via Variety), but if it likes what it sees, this would mark Gellar's first regular primetime role since the 2013 CBS sitcom The Crazy Ones, which was also, erm, cancelled after a season.
Based on the 2018 novel by Abbi Waxman, Other People's Houses follows nine people living in the peaceful, well-off Los Angeles neighbourhood of Larchmont Village.
Though the lens of social media, the characters "navigate their way through emotional ups and downs, as they try to figure out their lives as partners, parents, friends and neighbours".
Gellar, who is also executive-producing the series, will play working mum and social media influencer Anne Porter, a central character alongside stay-at-home mum Frances Bloom.
Ringer creators Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder are writing the script and are also two of the executive producers.
Gellar last appeared on the small screen when she made a brief cameo in The Big Bang Theory's series finale in May. She's also starring in a new limited series, the Ellen DeGeneres-produced Sometimes I Lie.
But let's hope Fox likes Other People's Houses (and it doesn't get cancelled after one season).
