Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Sarah Michelle Gellar has showcased her new hairstyle, debuting some curtain bangs for the autumn season.

The actor quoted another late '90s phenomenon, Ricky Martin, in the caption of her Instagram post, writing "she bangs" – the name of one of his songs – alongside a picture of her wavy blonde locks.

Fans in the comments loved the new look, with some referencing a less successful attempt at bangs: Buffy Summers' much-maligned baby bangs. "Better than the Buffy season 3 bangs," wrote one fan.

Gellar took it all in her stride, sharing a side-by-side comparison of her now and then bangs to her Instagram Stories with the caption "See... decisions [do] get better with age."

Earlier this month, Gellar spoke about the reboot of I Know What You Did Last Summer, explaining that while she won't be reprising the role of Helen Shivers for obvious reasons (death), she will still be involved in some capacity.

"My best friend [Jennifer Kaytin Robinson] is directing it, so we joke that I have an unofficial job, which is I am continuity," Gellar stated.

"So I'm always the one telling her, 'Well, that would happen, or that wouldn't happen with those characters,' so I do have kind of an unofficial job title.

"Jen's put together such an amazing cast, and I'm so happy and excited for all of them," she added. "I will be there with moral support behind the camera."

Gellar also won't be appearing in a second season of the supernatural drama Wolf Pack, as it was cancelled after season 1.

One thing she will be appearing in, though, is the upcoming prequel series Dexter: Original Sin. She will play the titular character's boss at the Miami Metro Police Department, Tanya Martin.
