Taylor Wimpey West Midlands is calling on Bulkington residents to voice their opinions on a proposed new housing development this week. The site, located off Nuneaton Road and north of Lancing Road, was granted outline planning consent for 230 homes in October 2023.

Taylor Wimpey is now preparing a reserved matters application to determine the finer details of the development, including appearance, landscaping and layout. The development will feature a range of one to five-bedroom homes, with 25% designated as affordable housing, including affordable rented and first homes.

Proposals also include a green buffer around the site's perimeter to reinforce the green belt boundary. The proposed development aims to generate a biodiversity net gain across the site and incorporate a Sustainable Urban Drainage System (SUDS) as part of the development according to the developer.

Locals have previously expressed fear the scheme will turn the village into a town if given the go-ahead. Taylor Wimpey will now host an in-person public consultation event to allow local residents to provide feedback and help shape the proposed scheme.

The event is scheduled from 2.30pm until 7pm tomorrow, Thursday October 17, at the Bulkington Community & Conference Centre, on School Road Taylor Wimpey have also organised an online consultation for those who can't make it to view and comment on its proposals.

The consultation has gone live, giving stakeholders until Friday 18th October 2024 to have their say here. If the development gets the go-ahead, the housebuilder will inject over £3.2 million into local community infrastructure.

The funding earmarked includes over £800,000 for schools, more than £250,000 towards NHS services, and in excess of £100,000 pledged for improvements to Bulkington Village Centre. Additional commitments given by the developer cover a range of amenities such as open spaces, recreational facilities, public transport enhancements, roadways, cycle paths, and footpaths, along with assistance for local libraries.

Land Director at Taylor Wimpey West Midlands, Edward Elliman said: "Gathering the views of the local community is an important stage in the development process and we are keen to hear what residents living in or around the Bulkington area think of our current proposals. We believe that the development of land off Nuneaton Road will mark an exciting time in Bulkington and we can bring a vibrant community to the local area. We are looking forward to hearing the views of those local to the site."
