Bull Elk Spar for Dominance Near Aspen

Colorado resident Barry Stevenson captured mesmerizing footage of two bull elk fighting for dominance in El Jebel, Colorado.

Stevenson’s footage shows the pair lower their heads and knock antlers.

The elk rutting season usually peaks from mid-September to mid-October. During the rut, bulls experience a dramatic increase in testosterone, making them “more aggressive and likely to exhibit dominate behavior”, the US Fish and Wildlife Department says. Credit: Barry Stevenson via Storyful
