A burger bar has announced the closure of two of its North Wales sites. Christy Goode set up Hungry Cow - initially renting pub kitchens at the George and Dragon in Flint and the Cross Foxes in Prestatyn.

His venture "blew up right from the start" and he opened his first restaurant in Holywell in 2021. They then expanded with a restaurant in Colwyn Bay in 2023 and an express site in Flint.

They had earned rave reviews for their luxury burgers, wings and loaded fries. But this week they announced some bad news for fans of the brand, with two of the sites to close.

The chain said: "Unfortunately, we have made the very difficult decision to close both of our Colwyn Bay restaurant and Flint express site with immediate effect. We are a small family run business and the stress of managing multiple locations whilst trying to ensure we maintain the highest standards has taken its toll.

"Although we have enjoyed our times of expansion, we believe that the right decision for us as a business is to now take a step back in order for us to move forward in the future. Our Mold Bar & Restaurant will remain open as normal, where we will be focussing on creating a unique & consistent dine in, take away and delivery service with 100% of our efforts for our customers.

"Lastly, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our fantastic team at hungry cow and all of our customers for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you all in the Mold Bar & Restaurant in the near future."

On social media, one customer said: "Absolutely gutted about this guys. You know how much we love your food. Thank you for always providing the best quality food and service to us. We will have to venture into Mold more now."
