Burgers and baos among lip-licking list of cuisine on menu at STACK Middlesbrough
A stellar line-up of street food traders has been unveiled ahead of the opening of Teesside’s eagerly-awaited new foodie destination.
Shopping container village STACK Middlesbrough is weeks away from opening at the undercroft where the A66 flyover meets Exchange Square, becoming the latest location to tap into the growing brand’s legendary food, music and entertainment.
The final touches are now being put on STACK Middlesbrough, which is being constructed from 25 shipping containers currently being put into place, and the team behind the new container village have revealed the five vendors who will be operating the street food offerings at the site.

While Stack might be new to the town, some of the food traders have a long association with Middlesbrough and are looking forward to having a more permanent base. Greek food specialists, Acropolis, will be opening their tenth venue at the site, having been regulars at the Orange Pip Market for the past seven years.
“We love Middlesbrough and we have lots of customers who come to eat our food at Orange Pip Market,” said Filip Tachan of Acropolis. "It’s a great place and we have loved meeting so many people over the past few years, so when the opportunity to be part of STACK Middlesbrough came up, we didn’t hesitate.”
Alex Hindson who runs Bao Down, which offers filled bao buns, gyozas, katsu curries and loaded fries, has also been a regular at Orange Pip Market. Originally from Newton Aycliffe, Bao Down also welcomes regulars at Newcastle’s Grainger Market.
Mr Hindson said: “When I was younger we’d always come to Middlesbrough for a night out and it’s always had a fantastic music and street food scene.“It absolutely suits STACK down to the ground and I’m very excited for it opening. We’re going to be in a great location with a really urban feel and I can’t wait.”
Meanwhile, Brack Burger, which has a huge following thanks to its homemade burgers, is preparing to fire up the grills. The list is rounded off by Holy Duck, known for its selection of duck wraps and loaded fries, and Zza Pizzeria, which specialises in pizzas cooked to order.
Alongside the food outlets, STACK Middlesbrough will have three bars, along with a central plaza with seating and a stage for live entertainment.
Neill Winch, CEO of STACK, said: “Our goal has always been to create a unique, vibrant destination that reflects the town’s love for great food and entertainment. We’re excited to bring this mix of street food, which has proven to be very popular and well-loved, to the people of Middlesbrough.
“With the combination of diverse cuisine, three bars and a central plaza for live entertainment, we believe STACK Middlesbrough will become a must-visit spot that truly adds to the area’s hospitality scene.”
STACK Middlesbrough will hopefully open in early December.
