Burglar filmed crawling through two-year-old child's bedroom in CCTV footage

Security footage has revealed a burglar crawling into the bedroom of a two-year-old boy while the child’s father watched the break-in on his phone.

Oliver Wallace, an HR consultant, saw the burglary at his home in Surrey unfold live on a security app on his smartphone while he sat in a pub 13 miles away.

Footage shows the intruder crawling through the little boy’s bedroom and rummaging through a cupboard, while an accomplice waits in the hallway.

The pair then quickly ransack the rest of the property before making off with £10,000 worth of items.

Mr Wallace said his wife Sally and son Sam were on holiday in Florida during the raid, which took place in Westhall Road, Warlingham, on 7 November.

Sharing footage of the incident on Facebook, Mr Wallace wrote: “Video of the scumbags who robbed our home today. Phone alerted me whilst it was taking place and called 999 within 30 seconds.

“Police took 45 minutes to arrive so as you might guess by the time they did they were long gone. So much taken but the loss of Sally’s mum’s jewellery is the most upsetting.”

He added: “It’s only possessions but that’s still kind of easier said than felt. On the off-chance anyone recognises this woman then obviously please shout out.”

Surrey Police have launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses and information about the burglary.

“The suspects gained access through an insecure patio door, and then proceeded to search the house, stealing a number of items, including items of jewellery,” a spokesperson said.

“One offender can be clearly see in the footage, and is described as female, white with long blonde hair, wearing a hooded top and jogging bottoms.”
