Burglars break into Cheshire town Co-op store and raid tills for cash

Burglars broke into a Co-op store in Congleton in the early hours of this morning and raided the tills. The thieves stole "a quantity of cash", police say.

Officers investigating the burglary are now appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward. The incident was reported to police at 2.50am this morning (November 14).

Police were called to reports of a burglary at the Co-op store in Bromley Road, Congleton. Officers attended and found that unknown offenders had gained access to the store and stole cash from the tills.

As part of ongoing enquiries into the incident, officers would like anyone who may have any information to contact them.

Detective Sergeant Laura Fox said: “We appreciate this incident occurred during the very early hours of the morning, but we would like to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed what happened or noticed anything suspicious either before or after the incident.

“The same goes for anyone who may have captured anything relevant on CCTV, video doorbell, or dashcam footage.
