Burn Cream Applied to Koala Rescued From Australian Wildfires

Kajika the koala, though burned and dehydrated by wildfires, is one of the lucky ones – he’s expected to recover. Koala habitats and populations have been devastated by the recent wildfires across New South Wales and Queensland.

The International Fund for Animal Welfare said this video shows a veterinary nurse from Friends of the Koala treating the six-year-old Kajika.

IFAW said Kajika presented with severe dehydration, singed patches on his fur, and a burned nose. Kajika is expected to be released back into the wild, the organization said. Credit: International Fund for Animal Welfare via Storyful
