Burst pipe at water treatment works affecting thousands of homes in Conwy

Dwr Cymru have reported a burst water main that is affecting supplies to thousands of homes. The issue is at the Bryn Cowlyd Water Treatment Works, Dolgarrog.

This is served by Llyn Cowlyd located 350m above the works in the Carneddau mountain range. It has affected homes in the Conwy Valley and parts of Conwy town.

A statement said: "We are currently dealing with a burst water main at our Bryn Cowlyd Water Treatment Works, Dolgarrog, which is impacting water supplies to customers in parts of the Conwy Valley.

"These locations are as follows: Conwy, Dolgarrog, Eglwys Bach, Groesffordd, Gwytherin, Henryd, Llanbedr y Cennin, Llanddoged, Llanfair Talhaiarn, Llangernyw, Maenan, Parts of Llanrwst, Pandy Tudur, Pentrefelin, Rowen, Rhyd y foel, Tal y Bont, Tal y Cafn, Ty'n y Groes and Trofarth.

"Our crews are on site and working on the repair. We are rerouting water through our network and tankers are being mobilised to keep as many people on supply as possible.

"We apologise to anyone whose water supply is interrupted and would like to reassure them we are working hard to resolve this issue as soon as possible."

Customers have been contacted directly with text messages to inform them about the issues.

One householder has already reported receiving bottled water from Dŵr Cymru staff.
