Bus Driver Carries On Driving After Truck Smash Knocks Him Off Seat

This is the incredible moment a bus driver was knocked out of his seat when a truck crashed into him - yet managed to carry on driving with one hand.

The extraordinary footage from shows Alksander Velker driving before a heavyweight truck packed with scrap iron is seen as the driver desperately tries to avoid a collision.

Despite his efforts, the truck ploughed into the bus on the streets of Yekaterinburg, Russia, and Alksander was thrown from his seat.

But what could have been a near-disaster was averted when Alksander grabbed the steering wheel with one hand and carried on driving.

He eventually managed to bring the vehicle to a halt - without a single casualty.

Online users were quick to praise Alksander’s bravery after the bus was hit with such force that it even knocked his glasses off, and threw him off.

Traffic police also praised the quick-thinking bus driver, saying it could easily have careered into the opposite lane causing a further disaster.

They said it was extremely lucky that the bus stop was empty when the truck was knocked off its course and ran over the space where passengers had been waiting only minutes earlier.

In the end there were no serious injuries although the truck was badly damaged and surprisingly came off worse than the bus which suffered little visible damage.

Local police spokesman Myron Kryukov said: “The accident caused extensive delays as the road pretty much completely blocked anything other than motorbikes while the clean-up operation was underway.”
