Bus stops out of action as Stoke-on-Trent transport scheme rumbles on
Bus passengers have seen their stops moved as an ongoing transport scheme continues in the Stoke-on-Trent. And the latest phase of works around College Road in Shelton will see the existing bus gate suspended.
This week has seen all bus stops on College Road - between Avenue Road and Station Road - moved to Stoke Road and Leek Road. Buses will travel along Stoke Road, Station Road, and Leek Road before joining a temporary diversion already running along Potteries Way and Broad Street in Hanley.
Meanwhile motorists are being warned there will be a lane closure on College Road, between Avenue Road and Station Road, where there will be temporary lights. That closure, which began on Monday (September 30) is expected to last for two weeks 'while utility investigations are carried out.'

In addition, the bus gate will be 'decommissioned' during that period. The bus gate was unveiled in April last year and meant that most cars would be banned from College Road between Station Road and Queen Anne Street.
The rules mean only certain vehicles, such as buses and taxis, can use it, with other drivers facing fines. That forms part of an ongoing project to overhaul the outside of nearby Stoke Station.
Multi-million improvements are being carried out on College Road between Hanley and Shelton with the schemes aimed at tackling congestion and improving safety. According to roadworks monitoring site One Network, gas supplier Cadent is carrying out works on College Road until October 2.
Those works come at a time where Leek Road, outside nearby University of Staffordshire has been gridlocked on successive days this week. There are ongoing works back at Lime Kiln lights with temporary lights for water works on Glebe Street, with Station Road also closed off.
