Buses replace weekend trains along key Kent routes plus date no trains between Dartford and London Victoria

Works will impact journeys to Ramsgate, Margate and Herne Bay throughout the weekend

As we approach the weekend, planned engineering works along multiple major Kent train lines will mean passengers must use buses between several key stations. On Saturday, November 9 and Sunday, November 10 buses will serve journeys between Faversham, Herne Bay, Margate and Ramsgate.

Then on Sunday only, there will be no trains running between London Victoria and Dartford due to works between Brixton and Victoria. Trains will be amended and diverted on this day, full details of which can be found below.

Also on Sunday, buses will replace trains between Strood and Tonbridge. This is due to works taking place between Paddock Wood and Strood, closing all lines.

Additionally, there will be deep cleans at over 100 Southeastern train stations taking place across the next six months, full details on all of this can be found here.

Kent engineering works - Saturday, November 9 and Sunday, November 10

Buses replace trains between Faversham, Herne Bay, Margate and Ramsgate - Saturday and Sunday

Due to engineering works between Faversham, Herne Bay and Ramsgate, all lines along this route will close. Services will be impacted as follows:

Saturday

  • Sole Street Line : Trains between London Victoria and Ramsgate via Chatham will only run between Victoria and Herne Bay.

  • Highspeed via Gravesend : Trains between London St Pancras International and Ramsgate via Faversham will only run between London St Pancras International and Herne Bay.

  • Highspeed via Ashford International : Trains between London St Pancras International and Margate via Canterbury West will only run between London St Pancras International and Ramsgate.

Accessible replacement buses will run between:

  • Herne Bay and Ramsgate calling at all stations.

  • Herne Bay and Ramsgate calling at Birchington-on-Sea, Margate and Broadstairs.

  • Margate and Ramsgate calling at Broadstairs only.

Sunday

  • Sole Street Line : Trains between London Victoria and Ramsgate via Chatham will only run between London Victoria and Faversham.

  • Highspeed via Gravesend : Trains between London St Pancras International and Ramsgate via Faversham will only run between London St Pancras International and Faversham.

  • Highspeed via Ashford International : Trains between London St Pancras International and Margate via Canterbury West will only run between London St Pancras International and Ramsgate.

Accessible replacement buses will run between:

  • Faversham and Margate calling at all stations.

  • Faversham and Margate calling at Whitstable, Herne Bay and Birchington-on-Sea only.

  • Margate and Ramsgate calling at all stations.

  • Margate and Ramsgate calling at Broadstairs only.

Passengers are advised to note the following alterations to the bus service:

  • Due to local road closures, buses for Faversham will depart from the Tesco car park between 10.30am and 12.30pm.

  • Due to local road closures, buses for Broadstairs will depart from St Peters Park Road between 10.30am and 12.15pm.

  • Due to local road closures, buses for Birchington-on-Sea will depart from bus stops at The Square between 10.30am and 12.15pm.

  • Due to local road closures, buses for Westgate-on-Sea will depart from bus stops at the Library between 10.30am and 1.00pm.

No trains between London Victoria and Dartford - Sunday

Due to engineering works between London Victoria and Brixton, there will be no trains between London Victoria and Dartford on Sunday. Trains between London Victoria and Dartford (via Bexleyheath) will be amended and diverted, and will run between London Charing Cross and Dartford, and will additionally call at London Waterloo East and London Bridge.

Passengers will be able to use tickets on London Underground at no extra cost between Victoria, Charing Cross, Embankment, London Bridge, Southwark and Waterloo.

Buses replace trains between Tonbridge and Strood - Sunday

Engineering works are planned between Paddock Wood and Strood, closing all lines. As a result, no trains will run between Paddock Wood and Strood.

Replacement buses will run between:

  • Tonbridge and Maidstone West.

  • Maidstone West and Strood.

Passengers are advised to note the following alterations to the bus service:

  • Due to local road closures, buses for Maidstone Barracks will depart from the bus stops at The Square between 11.30am and 12.30pm.

  • Due to local road closures for Remembrance Sunday events, buses for Maidstone Barracks and Maidstone West will depart from the bus stops outside the Dunelm store on London Road between 10.30am and 11.30am.

  • Due to local road closures, buses for Paddock Wood will depart from the bus stops at The Square between 10.00am and 11.30am.

  • Buses are unable to serve Aylesford between 10.30am and 11.30pm. Passengers should use alternative stations and routes or travel earlier or later.

  • Due to a level crossing closure, buses are unable to serve Beltring and Yalding all day. Passengers should use an alternative station or route.
