A key route in Canterbury has re-opened this morning (Monday, June 17) after water works forced the road to close for several days. South East Water has been carrying out repairs to a burst water main on the A2050 New Dover Road, which saw the road closed outside of number 29 near Canterbury College and the University for Creative Arts.

The closure first came into effect at 9am on Thursday, June 13. Motorists contended with heavy traffic and delays in the surrounding area as a result, with a diversion route in place while the closure remained.

Stagecoach confirmed that several of its services, including the 15, 16 and 17, were facing continued disruption as a result. Works were due to remain in place for up to six days, with an aim for the closure to end by 6pm on Tuesday, June 18.
