Busy Edinburgh road closed and buses diverted following 'emergency incident'

A busy Edinburgh road has been closed by emergency services following a rush hour incident with buses being diverted from the scene.

Woodhall Road, at Dreghorn Loan near Colinton is currently closed due to an incident involving the police and ambulance service which is understood to have taken place shortly before 4pm on Tuesday, June 18.

Lothian Buses has issued a service alert affecting the 10 and 16, with Woodhall Road currently inaccessible for drivers. The travel operator said: "Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve Woodhall Road, Torphin and Bonaly and will instead terminate at Westgarth Avenue until further notice."

One eye witness reported a road traffic collision is behind delays as they wrote on X: "RTC at traffic lights at top of Bridge Road, Colinton. Police in attendance. Not sure if buses can get up Woodhall Road - I diverted through Bonaly."

A second user added: "There is a road closure at the bottom of Westgarth Road leading to Dreghorn Loan at Colinton Road. Lots of police about." Police Scotland was approached for comment.
