Busy Edinburgh street locked down as police and fire crews race to scene

A busy Edinburgh street was locked down on Thursday afternoon with emergency services at the scene.

Around 3.45pm on November 21, Scottish Fire and Rescue and Police Scotland swooped on Dundee Street following an incident.

In pictures shared with Edinburgh Live, the area was cordoned off to the public while investigations were carried out. Several firefighters were spotted and one appliance was at the scene.

The exact nature of the incident is unknown at this time however SFRS left the area around 4.15pm. It's understood they were assisting Police Scotland with an incident.

A number of road closures were put in place and Lothian Buses have diverted several routes.

A statement from Lothian Bus reads: "Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve Fountainbridge and Dundee Street and are instead diverted via Dalry Road, Torphichen Place, Morrison Link and West Approach Road citybound until further notice.

Bus services 34 and 35 were also impacted.

Police Scotland have been approached for comment.
