Two women in hospital and busy Leigh road re-opens after crash

A busy Leigh road has re-opened after a two vehicles blocked the street in both directions.

Eastwood Road in Leigh near Belfairs Drive was affected with earlier delays quickly building around the area this morning.

Two women were taken to hospital for treatment following the crash.

At the time according to the AA the road was blocked both ways at Belfairs Drive and there is queueing traffic due to the crash.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "Two ambulances, an ambulance officer vehicle and a rapid response vehicle attended Eastwood Road Leigh this morning following reports of a crash.

"Two women were transported to Southend Hospital for further assessment and care."
