A new butcher's shop set to open in a North Wales town. It comes as many places are struggling to restore the fortunes of their high streets.

Daniel Morris Butchers has announced it is opening a shop in Ruthin. In a Facebook post a spokesman said: "Exciting news. We’re thrilled to announce that Daniel Morris Butchers is opening a brand-new store in Ruthin!"

The business, which already has shops in Denbigh, Llangollen and Mold, will be at Well Street in the town. The opening date for the new venture has not yet been revealed.

But the spokesman added: "Get ready for the finest locally sourced meats, freshly prepared daily by our skilled butchers. From premium cuts to homemade sausages and delicious pies, we can’t wait to bring our quality products closer to you.

"Stay tuned for our grand opening date and special offers. We look forward to serving the wonderful Ruthin community very soon!"

The news was welcomed on social media. One user Beverley Randall posted: "Brilliant news we need you" while James Williams typed: "Good to see someone investing in one of the empty shops. Best of luck, I'm sure it will do well in Ruthin."

Other customers were equally positive. Sue Dodd wrote: "Great news I can now call in to buy from the counter as well as my delivery" and Jeff Brimble commented: "Thanks for giving back to Well Street, all the best."

It seems that customers would be prepared to travel into the town to Daniel Morris Butchers. Llinos Yates said: "Amazing xx I might be out of Ruthin but I’ll definitely show my face in your butchers xx well done in coming to Ruthin we definitely need you. Good luck x".

News of the forthcoming shop in Ruthin comes after a husband and wife told how they want to develop a business at nearby Llanfwrog. In May Paul and Katie Edwards said they plan to breathe new life into an important community hub after taking over the tenancy of The Centre.
