Byker drink-driver snared after police spot him swerving in road
A dad-of-three was caught drink-driving after police spotted him swerving in the road.
Accountancy student, Brincasse Balde, was behind the wheel of an Audi Q7, which he wasn't insured to drive, when he was pulled over in Newcastle's West End. A court heard that officers could smell booze on the 31-year-old, so asked him to do a roadside breath test, which he failed.
Now, Balde, of Felton House, in Byker, has been banned from the roads for 14 months after he pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. Newcastle Magistrates' Court heard that Balde was stopped by police on April 1 this year.

Paul Coulson, prosecuting, said: "The defendant was driving along the West Road, in the direction of Newcastle City Centre. His Audi was swerving across the road and, at times, crossing the central carriageway.
"Due to the manner of driving, police signalled for the vehicle to stop, which it has done. An officer got out his vehicle and engaged with the driver. The defendant rolled down his window and the officer could immediately smell alcohol coming from the car."
The court heard that Balde later gave a reading of 122 milligrammes of alcohol in 100ml of blood, when the legal limit is 80. John Turner, defending, said Balde was a father of three and a accountancy student in Leeds, where he commuted to.
As well as the ban, Balde was ordered to pay a total of £253 in fines, costs and charges.
