  • To celebrate her twin sons' 10th birthday, Céline Dion shared a rare photo of them on Instagram.

  • In the caption, Dion said that their father, René Angélil, was "for sure" watching over them.

  • "You make me, your big brother and your Dad, who is for sure watching over you, so very proud," she wrote.

As Céline Dion celebrated her twin sons' tenth birthday over the weekend, she ensured that her late husband, René Angélil, was present in spirit. In an Instagram post, the 52-year-old singer paired rare photos of twins Nelson and Eddy with a loving caption.

"Nelson and Eddy, you have been bringing so much joy, love and laughter into our lives every single day for the past 10 years," Dion wrote next to the side-by-side photos, which show how much the twins have grown.

Dion said that their father was watching over them. "You make me, your big brother and your Dad, who is for sure watching over you, so very proud. Happy birthday my beautiful boys! We love you so very much," Dion continued, signing the message "Mom, RC and Dad."

The couple also share a 19-year-old son, René-Charles. They were married for 22 years, and knew each other for far longer—Dion met her future husband and manager when she was an aspiring 12-year-old singer.

Angélil passed away in 2016 at the age of 74, following a two-decade battle with throat cancer. Near the end of his life, Dion wanted to reassure Angélil of his continued presence in his family. "My biggest job is to tell my husband, we're fine. I'll take care of our kids. You'll watch us from another spot," Dion told USA Today of her husband's health in 2015.

And it seems that Dion really does feel Angélil watching her. Speaking to Gayle King in 2019 on CBS This Morning, Dion said, "I feel his vibration and his support...forever," but added that she misses "pillow talk."

Dion has been open about how the family unit has shifted around the loss of Angélil. A year after Angélil passed away, Dion told The Sun that she has leaned on her twins for support, and she called René-Charles "the man of the house" while speaking to USA Today.

"I organize myself to not feel lonely. So I got myself a huge, huge, huge bed and I sleep with my twins," she told The Sun. "They are comforting me a lot. I need them...I need them close. When it's time for them to say they want their room, their room's ready."

While the singer doesn't often share photos of her sons, Dion also publicly wished Nelson and Eddy happy birthday last year, too. "Double the laughter and double the love. Happy 9th Birthday, Nelson and Eddy! I’m so very proud of my boys. I love you," she wrote. More recently, she posted a photo of her posing with Nelson and Eddy in solidarity with GLAAD's Spirit Day, a campaign against anti-LGBTQ bullying.

Dion's latest album, Courage, out in 2019, processes the loss of her husband and brother within a short span of time. However, as she told King, she's become strong. "I’m enjoying my life so much more now than ever before. I needed to prove to myself that I could do it—to my family, to my friends, to the business people, the industry, the fans, that I can continue to sing and not just have a hit but have a career...I’ve always been alright and I’ll always be alright," Dion said.
