If you are sick of the wheels on your suitcase breaking or think that a hard case just doesn't fit as much as you want, there maybe an alternative for you. The Antler Discovery Backpack is said to be perfect for trips away and makes "a seamless transition from weekdays to weekends".

At £140, it is at the higher end of backpack prices, but customers say it is worth the investment as it promises to be versatile and spacious. It is made from recycled polyester, and is said to be "lightweight and durable" featuring a twisted ripstop reinforcement, to "withstand the rigours of daily travel" and water-resistant protection for "peace of mind in wet weather".

It measures 31 x 45 x 20 cm and weighs 1.17kg with a packing capacity of 28L. People have praised the bag, which comes in three colours, Antler green, black and heather-purple.

Jo S said: "Absolutely love this bag. I was flying with just hand luggage to Spain for a five day break and this bag was perfect.

"I already have Antler cases, but wanted something smaller as I wasn’t checking in any luggage at all. The amount of space was amazing, and with the packing cubes too, I managed to pack for my trip with ease. Plus the bag is very comfortable to carry."

But Mike S said: "The netting on the back - fiddly, adds nothing to the design, seems unnecessary - might remove - not used in our three week travel around different accommodation in Madagascar otherwise very pleased with multiple compartments for different items including IT, money, and item space for one night stops whilst travelling."
