Cabinet ministers are reportedly warning Theresa May that resignations could be on the horizon, after senior figures were reportedly left in the dark about plans for Brexit only three months before trade talks are set to begin.

According to The Times, some senior Tory figures are questioning whether Theresa May will be able to keep her government together when cabinet talks begin about Britain’s future relationship with the EU.

Several sources have claimed that a huge divide exists between Remain-Leave colleagues, while others say that any fears will never be made public out of fear of being seen to promote ‘Project Fear 2’ to the public.

For her part, it is understood that Theresa May is keen on maintaining the economic status quo between Britain and the European Union, running the risk of disappointing those who voted to leave with an expectation of significant change.

Among the figures tipped to resign is Andrea Leadsom, after she repeatedly challenged Theresa May’s Brexit direction on several occasions.

The mounting pressure on the Prime Minister comes amid rumours that Boris Johnson is finally planning a tilt at the top job.

Despite backing Theresa May publicly, his speech at the Tory party conference earlier this week was hailed for setting a bold vision for Brexit – with some claiming that it was his unofficial pitch to become Prime Minister.
