Cabinet reshuffle: what we know so far

Boris Johnson’s Cabinet reshuffle is underway at Number 10 Downing Street in London. Here is everything we know so far. Dominic Raab has been demoted from foreign secretary to justice secretary, but will stay on as deputy prime minister. This follows widespread criticism over his handling of the UK’s response to the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan. Liz Truss will take over Raab’s former role of foreign secretary and is only the second woman ever to be appointed to the position. Education secretary Gavin Williamson has been sacked from his role and confirmed his departure on Twitter. It comes just days after he confused football player Marcus Rashford and England rugby star Maro Itoje. It’s the second time he has been sacked from the government following his departure as defence secretary in 2019 over a Huawei leaking row. Justice secretary Robert Buckland and housing secretary Robert Jenrick have also been removed. .
