Café faces 'huge loss' after being targeted twice in a week
A café has faced a "huge loss" after being targeted twice in one week by burglars. Police received a call that Dace Café on College Road in Crosby was broken into twice – at around 5.10am on Thursday, August 22 and overnight of Saturday, August 25.
Money was stolen in the first burglary followed by food items in the second break-in. CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing to identify the offender, police said. Detectives have also issued CCTV images of a man they believe could assist with their investigation.
Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Doug Chadwick said: “This has caused significant distress to the owner of the café as the items stolen were of high value and the theft of the money too is a huge loss to the café. We are determined to find the offender so that other businesses are not targeted in future.

“I am appealing to the man featured in the images, or anyone who recognises him, to come forward. We believe he could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.”
Inspector Chadwick added: “Business thefts are not victimless crimes, and especially small businesses that provide an important service for the community and are simply trying to earn a living. I am appealing to anyone who has information which can help with our enquiries to please contact us so we can bring the offenders to justice.”
