Caitlyn Jenner has slammed late-night host Jimmy Kimmel for calling her Donald Trump in a wig.

The reality star turned California gubernatorial hopeful accused Kimmel of furthering hate after he criticised her appearance on ABC’s The View.

“Are we sure that isn’t Donald Trump in a Caitlyn Jenner wig?” he asked on Thursday’s (11 June) Jimmy Kimmel Live, as side-by-side photos showed them making similar facial expressions. “The resemblance is uncanny.”

Kimmel then called Jenner’s interview “nonsense” and reflected on her gubernatorial bid, one he said she’s doing “for attention”, before calling her: “Caitlyn Jenner Car-crash-ian”.

“Caitlyn Jenner has a better chance of being the next Batman than she does governor of California,” he added.

He also deadnamed Jenner as he reflected on Keeping Up With the Kardashians drawing to a close, calling her the “Olympic guy”.

Jenner, an Olympic gold medal-winning decathlete, took aim at Kimmel in a series of tweets Friday (11 June).

“Last night Jimmy Kimmel called me Donald Trump with a wig,” she wrote.

“He obviously believes that trans women are simply men with wigs on. Where is the outrage from the left of LGBT+ community?

“Being WOKE must be optional if you are a Democrat.”

Jenner sharpened her attack lines as she continued to knock Kimmel for wearing Blackface in a years-old Comedy Central skit.

Kimmel apologised for the skit, among many others, in 2020 in the throes of the Black Lives Matter movement in the US. “Looking back, many of these sketches are embarrassing,” he said in a statement at the time.

She also pulled up a 2013 segment of Kimmel’s show that she said “contributed to Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders hate”.

“Is there any group he won’t attack?” she asked.

Kimmel aired the segment in question, that featured a child suggesting “killing everyone in China” is a solution to America’s sprawling debt problem, in 2013, prompting protests. “Kill everyone in China?” Kimmel joked in the clip, “OK, that’s an interesting idea.”

It was a segment he and ABC later apologised for.

Kimmel sarcastically responded to Jenner’s tweets on Friday, simply shrugging off her jabs.

He uploaded a photo of Gary Coleman, who like Jenner ran for California governor during a recall election, posing at a news conference for the 2003 show, Who Wants To Be Governor of California? The Debating Game.

Coleman, who ultimately placed eighth in a crowded field of 135 candidates, threw his hat into the ring as a satirical comment on the recall.
