Caitlyn Jenner verbally abused in transphobic hate crime in London

It has sadly been reported that Caitlyn Jenner’s trip to London ended on a bitter note, with the TV star and former Olympic athlete falling victim to a hate crime.

Caitlyn was the guest of honour at Friday night’s LGBT Awards at the Grand Connaught Rooms and had an incredible night, however, as she left the venue it has been reported that vile, transphobic abuse was shouted at her from the street.

The 67-year-old star is said to have been left “terrified” by her ordeal, with the Metropolitan Police confirming that they are investigating reports of a hate crime but no arrests have been made.

Speaking to The Sun, an onlooker said: “Caitlyn had an amazing night and when she won her award the room went crazy.

“She’d had such a wonderful time but as she went to leave the whole atmosphere changed.

“Someone shouted to her: ‘Oi, Bruce, get your d**k’ out. Then someone else threw something at her. It was horrible.”

The eyewitness went on to add: “Caitlyn kept her cool though and walked to her limo with her head down and security bundled her into the car but she looked terrified.”

Caitlyn is yet to publicly acknowledge her ordeal and we have contacted her reps for comment.

Meanwhile, the star’s appearance at Friday night’s event was hugely anticipated, with Caitlyn being honoured with Huffington Post’s ‘Loud And Proud’ award after coming out as transgender in 2015.

Speaking ahead of her appearance, a source said of Caitlyn: “Caitlyn is a significant figure to the trans community all over the world so her attendance at the British LGBT Awards is massive.”

As well as Caitlyn, Prince William, Rylan Clark-Neal and Dustin Lance Black and his husband Tom Daley were among the big winners of the night.
