A California man returned to find his Vacaville home completely destroyed by the wildfires burning across the state on Thursday, August 20.
George Ripley shared this footage from the ruins of his home after some local residents returned to assess damage from the LNU Lightning Complex group of fires in Vacaville.
Ripley said a neighbor told him the fire caused a propane tank to explode and engulf his home in flames. “Heartbreaking but we are alive and safe,” he wrote on Facebook. “Glad to see most of my neighbors’ homes made it through the fire.”
The LNU Lightning Complex had burned more than 350,000 acres by August 24, officials said.
