(Reuters) - A light-rail passenger train derailed in Sacramento, California, late Thursday night, injuring 27, officials said.

Thirteen people were taken to local hospitals, a Sacramento Fire Department representative tweeted. The rest were treated at the scene.

The department did not specify the cause of the derailment, but the Sacramento Bee news site reported early Friday that the passenger train struck a maintenance train that was on the same track.
