California Water Company Employees Salute Coworker Battling Cancer With Parade

More than 100 employees of the Rancho California Water District honored their colleague with a drive-by parade to show support after his recent stage-four cancer diagnosis on Tuesday, May 19.

John Olmos, who has worked for Rancho Water for more than 20 years, stood outside his home in Winchester on May 19 as his coworkers honked their horns, yelled words of support, and waved signs out of their car windows.

This video shows the parade during the Rancho Water employee lunch break. Olmos stands in his driveway, wearing a face mask, to happily receive his friends and colleagues.

“You’ve got this, brother!” a coworker shouted with a thumbs-up.

“We love you John!” said another, driving a pick-up truck with a sign that read “Team John.”

Rancho Water General Manager Jeff Armstrong said in a press release, “To know John is to instantly love him. He has always been a hardworking employee whose smile is infectious. John will give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. That is just the type of guy he is.” Credit: Rancho California Water District via Storyful
