Calls for Robbie Williams and Lou Macari to be in King Charles' Honours list

Calls are growing for Stoke-on-Trent favourites Robbie Williams and Lou Macari to be included in the latest Birthday Honours list. King Charles is releasing his latest list of recipients at 10.30pm tonight.

It comes after Robbie Williams was awarded an OBE for his charity work and pop stardom in 2019 - only for the decision to be overturned. Wife Ayda Field has this week appeared on Loose Women to call for him to finally get his OBE.

Football legend Lou played for Manchester United and managed Stoke City and is the driving force behind the Macari Centre homeless hostel in Stoke. But Lou has been repeatedly overlooked for an honour.

Now StokeonTrentLive readers are leading the calls for Robbie and Lou to finally be recognised.

Claire Turner said: "It was Robbie and Johnny Wilkes who started Soccer Aid and it has raised tens of millions of pounds. Other celebrities get one for doing charity work so why not Robbie?."

Ann Hurst said: "He deserves one for all he's done for charity and Soccer Aid."

Jillian Timmins added: "We've got to nominate Rob."

Stoke City fans have long called for legend Lou to be recognised.

Andrew Howe said: "Lou Macari is more deserving."

Jill Blakeman said: "Lou Macari does great work for the homeless around Stoke-on-Trent."

Kath Hollinshead added: "Both Robbie and Lou Macari deserve some recognition for what they have done for charity and the homeless."
